Happy Wedding Wednesday everyone! For those of you who regularly follow my wedding planning blog you’ll know that when I’m not busy planning client weddings I am usually working with a super talented specially selected creative bunch of people on the next fabulous wedding photo shoot to inspire all your brides and grooms to be. Our work to date has been featured on Love My Dress and OMG! I’m Getting Married – two of the UK’s top wedding blogs. More recently our James Bond inspired shoot produced at the beautiful Compton Verney wedding venue in Warwickshire was picked up by Hitched over in Ireland and it had such a great response over there that it’s soon to be released in Canada! So Warwickshire Wedding Planner literally doesn’t just cover Warwickshire we’ve gone International now!
April and May have been two particularly busy months for wedding photo shoots and today I am delighted to share with you our totally flapper-licious Great Gatsby inspired 1920s Art Deco Wedding photo shoot which is literally hot off the press just in time for the release of the brand new film starring the very handsome Leonardo Dicaprio.
Ashorne Hill, a Grade II listed country house set in beautiful Warwickshire countryside provided the perfect backdrop for this very glamorously styled shoot.
I had my usual core team of super talented highly regarded Warwickshire wedding suppliers working with me on this shoot and as usual they completely blew me away with their work. It was also my great pleasure to introduce some new blood into the team to add a slightly different edge to our previous work. I was responsible for all the design and styling for this shoot as well as the overall planning and coordination.
If that’s not enough for one wedding planner to contend with, through my own separate business Warwickshire Bridal Hair and Makeup I also did all the model’s hair and makeup on the day of the shoot. I love doing hair and makeup for photo shoots as it allows me to really bring out my creative side!
A 1920s styled shoot wouldn’t be complete without a vintage Rolls Royce which was kindly supplied by Stuart at Celestial Cars.
This stunning 1920s bespoke wedding dress was designed and made by hand specifically for this wedding photo shoot by the super talented wedding dress designer Jacqueline Doxey. Jackie also supplied the vintage headdress worn by the bride. The bespoke range of handmade jewellery was kindly supplied by Tam Vo.
Ashorne Hill’s Charlecote and Chesterton dining rooms complete with their art deco inspired decor provided the perfect setting for our wedding breakfast. Occasions Chair Covers kindly provided all the venue dressing and chair covers for this shoot.
“I had a great day at Ashorne Hill and thought that it was the perfect venue for a 1920′s themed wedding. I was really pleased with the final look of the room and was delighted with the pink and white ostrich feather centrepieces (an excellent and great looking value for money alternative to flowers), combined with peppermint pink crystal organza chair sashes on crisp white chair covers, they all complimented each other beautifully.” Elena, Occasions Chair Covers.
I was delighted to welcome back Melanie Thorn from Melanie’s Studio Designs to provide all the wedding stationary again for this shoot as I do love her work!
“I took my inspiration from the bold, extravagant designs and iconic imagery of the 1920s Art Deco and using several key features aimed to create a refined and elegant set of matching stationery. I incorporated additional stationery that complimented the different elements of the photo shoot, including a live jazz band, 1920s crockery and a vintage gramophone. The little signs and posters added a bit of light-heartedness to the stationery and helped in creating some original photographs. I created a set of graphically design patterns, which when combined with my hand drawn illustrations formed an attractive balance between bold, Art Deco motifs and graceful, elegant 1920s fashion.” Melanie Thorn, Melanie’s Studio Designs.
For a true art-deco theme it was felt that a single wedding cake just wouldn’t hit the mark so Midlands based wedding cake supplier Lisa from Cake by Lisa Price created this fabulous dessert table. The macaroons were kindly supplied by Comme Ci Comme Ca of Leamington Spa.
New wedding supplier, Touch of Vintage, based in Warwick kindly supplied the absolutely stunning 1920s gramophone and vintage crockery for this shoot.
No wedding celebration is complete without a party and I was absolutely over the moon to have had live jazz band – The Top Hats – perform for us during the shoot. Our models thoroughly enjoyed practising their charleston dance moves in their very 1920s flapper dresses to the beautiful jazz sounds. To book email Mal.
Behind the Scenes – short film
If you are intrigued as to what we get up to on a typical wedding photo shoot I’m sure you will enjoy this fabulous behind the scenes short film courtesy of Linda Scannell Photography. Soundtrack performed by The Top Hats. Enjoy!
Which leads me on nicely to say a great BIG thank you to Linda Scannell Photography for doing all the shoot photography and producing the accompanying short film – you captured the day perfectly as always.
Wedding photo shoots are a huge team effort and they rely heavily on the highly creative people behind them. Every single one of them deserves a big pat on the back for making our Great Gatsby inspired 1920s Art Deco Wedding Photo Shoot a huge success. The end result completely matches my vision and I am absolutely delighted with the results.
